FAQ

A few fair questions.

The things founders usually want to know before we speak, from fit and timing to how engagements and fees work. If yours isn't here, just ask.

What kinds of founders do you work with?

Founders with operating experience, technical depth or early traction who need help building a stronger investment case and running their raise. That includes first-time fundraisers and experienced founders.

Who don't you work with?

I'm not the right fit if you want only investor introductions, guaranteed funding or a success-fee-only arrangement. If the business needs more validation before fundraising, I'll say so and suggest a useful next step.

When should I start working with you?

You can start before approaching investors or while your raise is underway. Bring whatever materials you have, even if the deck and model are unfinished.

What does an engagement involve?

A focused six-week preparation engagement, ongoing support through a live raise, or both. We agree the scope and starting point around what you need.

Why not just do this myself?

You can. Most founders do, and it takes longer than they expect, DocSend's pre-seed data puts the average unsuccessful raise at around five months of pitching.

The real cost isn't the months. It's that every investor you pitch badly is one you can't easily go back to. There are perhaps forty funds that genuinely fit your stage and sector, and a first meeting only happens once. I help you spend that time getting second meetings rather than rewriting the deck, and walk into each one knowing what you'll be asked.

Do you introduce founders to investors?

Yes, where there's a relevant fit. Introductions are selective, not guaranteed, and sit alongside the work on your investment case, targeting and process.

How do your fees work?

A paid retainer based on scope, with an agreed success fee where applicable. I outline the terms after understanding the work required.

How much time will you need from me?

Expect a working session of about an hour a week, plus time on the materials between them. Most founders spend two to three hours a week on this. During a live raise it moves with the conversations: some weeks are one call, others are daily. I work to your schedule, not a fixed programme.

Does the raise need to involve Europe or the Gulf?

No. Those regions reflect my experience and network. Fit depends on your business and where I can contribute.
